The gallery importing function of TGPX allows you to quickly add many galleries to the database. This document will provide an overview of the gallery importing process.
Import Data Format
To import galleries you will need to either place them in a text file or paste them into a text box in the gallery importing interface. In either case, the format needs to be the same. There should be only one gallery per line. Each line should have pipe (|) delimited data, with each field representing one piece of information about the gallery. The pieces may be in any order, but that order must remain the same throughout all of the galleries. For example:
user1@email.com|http://www.gallery1.com/index.html|Gallery #1 Description|Hardcore|12|Roger user2@email.com|http://www.gallery2.com/main.html|Gallery #2 Description|Softcore|15|James user3@email.com|http://www.gallery3.com/index.php|Gallery #3 Description|Fetish|16|SusanThe above example has three galleries each with an e-mail address, gallery URL, description, category, number of thumbs, and submitter name. Once you have your galleries in the proper format, you can begin the importing process.
Control Panel Interface
To use the gallery importing feature access the Galleries > Import From File function from the control panel menu. This will load a page where you will be able to tell the software if you want to import from a file that you uploaded or if you want to paste your gallery data into the supplied text box. Each option is explained on the gallery importing interface. You will need to press the Analyze Input button if you have pasted data into the text box or the Analyze File button if you are importing from an uploaded text file.
After you press the correct Analyze button you will be taken to a page where you will see the first gallery split out into it's individual fields. On the left hand site of the Import Data section you will see drop down menus. From these menus you will need to select what each field represents. If one of the pieces of data for the gallery does not fit into any of the drop down menu options, select the IGNORE option. TGPX will ignore all the IGNORE fields when importing the galleries.
In addition to assigning each of the fields from the data you are importing, there are additional items that you can configure. Each of those items are described below.
Status | Select the status to assign to all of the imported galleries. |
Type | Select the type to assign to the imported galleries or 'From Import Data' if you have included the status in the import data. |
Format | Select the format to assign to the imported galleries or 'From Import Data' if you have included the status in the import data. |
Sponsor | Select the sponsor to assign to the imported galleries. If the sponsor name is included in the import data, select 'From Import Data'. You can also select the 'From Import Data' if you do not want to assign galleries to a specific sponsor. |
Add new sponsor if imported sponsor name does not already exist Check this box if you are importing the sponsor name from the import data and you want the software to automatically create a new sponsor when it encounters a sponsor name that does not already exist |
|
Bad Category | Select what action should be taken if a bad category name is encountered in the gallery import data. By default your galleries will need to be imported with a category name that exactly matches one of the defined categories, otherwise they will be skipped. If you select the 'Create new category' option, TGPX will create a new category for any that are imported with your galleries that do not match an existing category name. You can also force galleries to be placed in a specific category by selecting the 'Place in this category' option. When you select this option, a list of your currently configured categories will slide out and allow you to select the specific category you want the galleries placed in. |
Duplicates |
Select what action should be taken if a duplicate gallery URL (one that is already in the database) is encountered in the import data.
Skip over gallery This option will skip over the gallery in the import data and it will not be added to your database Replace old gallery data with new gallery data This option will delete the current gallery and replace it with the new gallery from the import data Add duplicates to database This option will allow duplicate gallery URLs to be imported, so you will end up with the same gallery URL in the database twice (or more) |
Field Formats
Some of the items that you may want to import have specific formats that must be met in order for the galleries to be imported correctly. Each of those is discussed below.
